Strength in unity
Aontach is the Irish for unity. The seanfhocal the club takes its name from — ní neart go cur le chéile — means there is no strength without unity, and it’s the whole idea in one line.
Jiu-jitsu looks like an individual sport from the outside. It isn’t. You cannot get good on your own. Every technique you own was given to you by someone who let you practise it on them, badly, for months. The room makes the athlete, not the other way round.
That’s why the door is open to anyone here — beginners, competitors, kids, people who’ve never done a sport in their lives. A room that only takes the naturally athletic is a worse room for everybody in it.
