The terms that apply to training at Aontach Jiu-Jitsu — membership, fees, safety and what we expect of each other.

These terms apply to membership of Aontach Jiu-Jitsu, Unit 24, Ballyvolane Commercial Park, Ballyvolane, Cork, T23 E685.

By training with us you are agreeing to them, along with our code of conduct. If there is anything here you are not comfortable with, talk to a coach before you sign up rather than after.

Membership runs month to month. There is no minimum term and no lock-in.

Fees are payable monthly in advance. We will confirm the amount and the payment method with you when you join, because the right figure is not the same for everyone and we would rather have that conversation than publish a single number.

If a payment is missed we will contact you before anything changes. We will not quietly suspend someone’s membership without telling them.

You can stop at any time by telling a coach or emailing us. We do not ask for notice and we do not charge a cancellation fee.

If you are injured or away for a period, talk to us and we will work something out. Nobody should be paying for mats they cannot get to.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, submission grappling and wrestling are contact sports. Training carries a risk of injury even when everything is done properly and everyone behaves.

By training with us you confirm that you are medically fit to take part, that you have told us about any injury, condition or medication that affects your training, and that you accept the risks that come with the sport.

Tell a coach about any new injury or condition as it arises. Coaches will stop anyone training where they judge it unsafe to continue, and that decision is final on the night.

We ask about injuries, conditions and medication so that coaches can keep you safe. It is your responsibility to keep that information up to date.

For members under eighteen, the parent or guardian is responsible for telling us about any condition and for giving us an emergency contact.

Children are allocated to a class by age, size and ability rather than by age alone. That decision is made by the club and may change as a child grows and progresses.

Children must be collected promptly at the end of a session. Please contact Yvonne before bringing a child to their first class — spaces are limited and classes may be full.

Everyone training here agrees to follow the club’s code of conduct. It covers hygiene, behaviour on the mat, respect for training partners and use of the changing facilities, and it exists so that beginners and experienced competitors can train safely in the same room.

We can suspend or end a membership where the code is seriously or repeatedly broken, or where someone’s behaviour puts others at risk. This is rare, and we would always rather have the conversation first.

Class times can change around competitions, holidays and coach availability. We will give as much notice as we can, and the timetable on this website is the current version.

Nothing on this website is a binding offer. A membership starts when we agree it with you.

We sometimes photograph and film classes for our social media. We record your preference when you join and you can change it at any time. For members under eighteen we do not publish anything without a parent or guardian’s consent. See our privacy policy for more.

We maintain insurance appropriate to the activities we run, and we take reasonable care of members while they are training with us.

We are not responsible for personal property brought onto the premises. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

We may update these terms. The current version is always on this page, and we will tell members directly where a change is significant.

These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland.
